On the weekend of Valentine’s Day, the boys gave up the night with their special ladies to go on the pre-season teambuilding camp to Genadendal.
Taking up HQ at the Hester Dorothea hostel, the team was within walking distance from Emil Weder High School. The training sessions took place at the high school rugby field.
Saturday the boys took to the field as early as 6am for their first of the three sessions for the day. After breakfast another field session kicked-off. After training in 40⁰ heat the boys cooled off in the lake at the local day camp and braai area. Previous Club President, John Isaacs, better known as Uncle Tynnie, dropped in from Botrivier to fit in a mental and psychological session before lunch, really stretching the players thoughts and views.Sunday the rugby field was yet again greeted at 6am. After a somewhat longer training session, the coaches took the players for sit-down teambuilding session. Here players were taken out of their comfort zones, sharing more than just their rugby talents with the team in what players referred to as “being back in school” and “lectures”.
